The Astral Sleep

Great baroque inspired intro with cembalo (you know, that thing Lurch
plays in "The Addams Family") and keyboards, which really gives it a
17th century feeling. The music is otherwise pretty harmonic death
metal with a more symphonic touch rather then plain brutality and
intensity. This makes it a original and interesting, but I feel it
sounds a bit old and not so fresh as it could have. The material is
a bit uneven with a few very goods songs and a couple of boring ones.
The song "Ancient Entity" is superb. The production isn't that good
and the vocalist has a speech impediment! It's quite annoying and
probably the worst thing about this album. The vocals are otherwise
very good and a bit original, not so deathy. This interesting and
potent music has even been called black metal! Well OK they have some
satanic texts and some about the ancient ones but wait a minute...
I would call this music symphonic death metal.

Clouds

Ah! This is much better. great production and much better material
with a fresher sound which is the biggest difference. The music is
a bit heavier with lots of great riffs. The keyboardwork is excellent
and we have some more normal vocals together with the usual deathier
stuff. He still can't sing properly by the way but here it's not so
obvious. Over all is this a very good album and I recommend it.

The Sleeping Beauty MCD

A live album recorded in Israel of all places. Nice cover and
very good sound but no new songs so it's really just a short
live recording. The only studio recording is the lengthened
outro from clouds which now is even better.

Wildhoney

Here's a twist for you, what shall I refer this as? If you have
any good ideas, mail me. It's very original. If you take "The
Astral Sleep" and then moves in the direction of "Clouds", but
continuos past it about ten times further away, you might get
this. It's not death metal anymore apart from some additional
deathy vocals. Talking about vocals, the speech impediment is
gone! The music is extremely harmonic and very beautiful with
lots of nice keyboards and sound fx. This is infact so harmonic
and "normal" that my mom actually likes it. The production is
one of the best ever and the lyrics is a bit hippie like with
very deep meanings. Still the songs are very good, especially the
first two, but the solos can be a bit to much "Mr. Macho Guitar
Hero" sometimes. I recommend that you listen to it before you
buy it because it's so different that many might not like it at all. I
just though about calling it life metal because it seems to be
a celebration of life. I don't have much against that because
they don't call it neither death or black metal. That's fine,
not like Sepultura or Obituary whom think they play death metal.

Gaia EP.

A six track EP. with five new versions of Wildhoney songs plus
a cover of a Pink Floyd(!) song called "When You're In". It's
actually quite good, complete with electric organs and all,
but to make a cover of a Pink Floyd song should be crime. The
music is still the same and the only big difference from
"Wildhoney" is the length of the songs plus that they don't
stick together anymore.
