This is neither black, Doom or Death metal, but I choose to review it
any way since it's extremely good and made by Fenris and Satyr from
Darkthrone and Satyricon respectively. Together with Kari Rueslåtten
(former member of 3rd and the Mortal) they have created a very
interesting concept. The music is sort of a mixture between Norse
folkmusic and metal and the result is great. The trio call their
newfounded style National Romantisk Musikk which pretty much rounds it
up. All the lyrics are in Norwegian and you can really feel the Norse soul
in the music (at least I as a Swede can, but if your not an Scandinavian
you might miss the point). Fenris and Kari does most of the singing, all
in normal voices leaving Satyr to backing vocals and playing most
instruments. Some of the material reminds of the more folkmusic
like Isengard songs. I put this album among my all-time top 10 list, it is
that good.
