Scorn Defeat
I want to start of by deeply apologize for spreading that Sigh is a female
band, It's completely untrue and I'm glad that Mirai himself mailed me and
cleared that thing out. A B.M. band from the land of the rising sun... My
expectations were high since I'd read a lot of good reviews of this and
later stuff. But I could never had guessed that it sounded like this...
This is something you don't hear everyday. They often use a piano as main
instrument which sounds very cool in my opinion. material. I think this
band is among the most original I've ever heard and can almost only be
compared to them selves. The faster parts reminds a bit of Mayhem but the
slower has no equal. It's well written material with very nice piano and
keyboard melodies. The vocals sounds as nothing I ever heard before or
after in any other band. If you like one of their albums you'll
like the other one as well and I do so very much.

Infidel Art

The six songs are very harmonic and not as evil as many of us want's it
but instead it's very original and well performed with lots of great
riffs and material. It has also got even more piano then the first one,
cool in my opinion. This is one of my favorite bands and probably one of
the most interesting too. The production is a lot better on this album and
that is perhaps the biggest difference between the two. I have now been
informed that a split release together with Vargermer (is that spelling
right?) - a project by Algaion members is coming out soon and that
they’recurrently working on their third album. That’s great news for a
fan like me.

Ghastly Funeral Theatre MCD
I have waited a long time for the next release from Sigh. Mirai promised
me a split album with Swedish Vargermer as I mentioned above, burt I seems
like it didn't happen for some reason or other. Instead this MCD popped
out in the stores litterly from nowhere. This album has both it's up's and
down's. The positive is the new greater the ever material and brilliant
keyboardwork, on the negative side we have this trumpet sounding keyboard
effect which I don't like at all, plus some of the background choirs isn't
good either (just ridiculus) Apart from that, it's a superb release. It's
almnost perfect with the very Venom like metal in tune with piano,
keyboards and acoustic guitars. This MCD consists 4 songs + intro/outro
and plays at the length of 23:33. This is so brilliant at parts so I must
give it highest ratings eventhough it has it's bad times.

Hail Horror Hail
Finally a new full-length album from these Japanese thrashers. This album
is a bit different from the previous ones as it’s rockier and even more
like the 80’s metal. It’s still cool metal with catchy riffs (These baby’s
really can get stuck in your head if you ask me) paused with some nice and
beautiful melodies on piano, hammond organ, keyboards or any other of the
odd instruments that been used. The material is splendid as usual and I’m
sure that if one liked the previous stuff, one will enjoy this as well.
Very good production.
There is difference from the previous albums, but I can’t really put the
finger on what made it like this. Perhaps it’s the rockier melodies, or
perhaps it’s the heavier use of real instruments. Anyway it’s a brilliant
album, but I’m still a bit chicken about giving it the full 5 of 5. I
think that it will grow with time though.
