Lake of Tears
Greater Art
Slow and doomy death metal, but not in that extreme way that My Dying
Bride has. The vocals are more normal then in most death bands and they
fit this music perfectly. It's not brutal in anyway, it's just... good.
Great riffs and melodies that together with the sound reminds of the
Finish band Amorphis or Sentenced. There's also some reminders of Tiamat.
It's drak and beautiful death metal with some acoustic guitar and
keyboards. I rank this as one of the very best releases of 1994. The only
thing negative is the shortnes of only 35 min.

Headstones
Much heavier sound that sweaps one away at once. This is much more heavy
metal sounding, but it's still no doubt that it's Lake of Tears. I was
surprised when I heard this development. It's still slow and doomy and has
superb material, good production and it's very well performed. The
production might not be as good as on the debut as the sound is dirtier,
but it fits the music very well so I don't mind. I was disapointed at
first, but now I rank it as their best. Some of the songs are even ballad
like, but I don't mind as this is a band one should relax to rather then
sweat out with.

Crimson Cosmos
Hmmm... what is this? Really weird. It seems that they have developed in
the same direction as Tiamat. I don't like the newer Tiamat, but I like
this how odd that now might seem. This is about as weird as Wildhoney was.
Much Pink Floyd influences, but still rather good and they have
succesfully used a 60's organ sound on their keyboards. I'm sure that this
isn't for everyone, not even if you liked their previous ones. So you
should REALLY listen to it first. Very good production and good songs, but
they are abit weird. Very drug drenched lyrics in my opinion.
