Jhva Elohim Meth... The Revival
This is Katatonia's debut EP. containing 5 tracks where the first and the
last are an great Intro/Outro respectively. The other songs are of an bit
original style, sort of Black/Doomish with slow well played songs and
great vocals. The best song also features on the debut album reviewed
below but this is a much rawer and evil sounding recording. This is a
good first release although the production could have been better, but
then again this is actually a demo, re-released as an EP. which makes it
considerably very good.

Dance of December Souls

What we have here is Katatonia's first and hopefully not last full length
album. It haven't got the same brutality as the EP. above but instead it
got great well played good quality songs and a total of 54 min. The style
is much the same but perhaps not as evil (well the first one isn't very
evil either, but how do you explain the difference other then that), the
songs are slower and better produced. I like this album a lot, it got
everything with good riffs and material. I believe that this is one of
Sweden's strongest albums of 1993.

For Funerals To Come EP.
Katatonia continuous in their own original Doom/Black Metal style, and
that's very good. It's very good well performed music with great material
and almost all other band sucks in compare to this. There is no doubt in
my mind that this is one of Sweden's absolute finest acts ever (Until
sometime in the autumn of 95 when the band splitted up - a great loss for
the Swedish scene, so this is their last release). It has three songs and
an outro all in all 18 min. long. A masterpiece

Brave Murder Day
Yes!!! it's finally here. How long have we not waited for this album ever
since Blackheim claimed that Katatonia was still alive and a new album was
in the making. It didn't make me disapointed I tell you. There has been
some changes since the last releast but it still what you might have
expected. The music is slow and Doomy, with great riffs as always. The
vocals are both grim black metal and normal. The music now sounds much
like a mixture between the earlier albums and the new My Dying Bride
album. If I didn't know better I'd first guess that it was M.D.B., until
he starts singing that is. The riffs are just like Burzum monotonous
without getting boring. They have used a drum machine on this one (I
think) but it still sounds marvelous. The three members of Katatonia anno
1996 are doing a splendid job making this album way better then most other
releases It isn't the best release of '96 but it's a killer album. Oh, did
I forget to mention the incredible good production?
