Hecate Enthroned
Upon Promethean Shores MCD
Hmm... It's not very hard to guess that this band is not only influenced
by Cradle of filth - they have also got a former member in their band.
Still it has a few new touches to their style eventhough it easily could
have been the previous or the uppfollowing album to "The Principles of
Evil Made Flesh". Eventhough this is a copy of a greaty band I still like
them. They have created a very good MCD with great material that is in the
same class as CoF's own stuff, so I strongly recommend you to check it out
if you like the original. The production isn't perfect (It has a few
faults, but it's nothing that you can't accept on a debut album) but
really the only thing that annoys me about this band (beside the complete
rip of, of CoF) is their video for the song "An Ode for a Haunted Forest"
(great song I might ad). I guess that they wanted to be the first B.M.
band with a video out so bad that they didn't mind the result, or the
where just to cheap to do it better. Everyone who's seen it knows what I
mean, right? It shows nothing but the members trying so hard to look cool
infront of their homevideo camera wearing corpse paint and lots of
satanic symbols. They should have watched Satyricon's "Mother North" and
seen how it's done. Well it cost a shitload of money, I know that, but the
result is marvelous, and Burzum's video is also quite good but it didn't
cost more then Hecate Enthroned's. If you can't get a good result, then
why release it anyway? Still the 30 min MCD is a great release worth the
money.

The Slaughter of Innocense
I can’t understand why everybody is talking crap about this band. Sure
thay haven’t got many own ideas and their video was pathetic, but I think
that there are plenty of other bands that are much worse then this. It
seems as these guys have become scapegoats to justifie all ripp-off bands.
I think that they are much better then the majority of the scene and this
first full-length album proves that. It’s still very much Cradle of Filth
with the same sound and vocals, and the same kind of material. This is
better then the MCD as the material feels fresher and it has better
production. It’s still not quite as good as Cradle of Filth, but they are
damn close. And C.o.F. have moved on a bit with "Dusk ...And Her Embrace"
while these guys still sound the same which makes them the only band
sounding like this nowadays. It may not be of much credit, but it’s more
original then the 34th Mayhem ripp-off...
