In the Nightside Eclipse

Emperor's long awaited full length album were a long time waiting for. After numerous times have been delayed it finally came, more then a year after it's first release date. But it was worth waiting for. It’s one of the biggest and best B.M. releases of all time. Personally I think it's missing some of the primitivity and roughness that their debut had, but instead the songs have become more complexed with more keyboards (which sounds great). The only thing I'm a little disappointed at is the mixing of the album. The vocals is very hard to hear and the keyboards is to dominating, too bad on a other then that almost perfect album. This album has to be named one of the best ever.

Reverence MCD

Fast hellish B.M. wit hlots of keyboards. It's not quite what I had expected after "Nightside..." but several years have passed and the band have moved forward. The music nowadays is much more complexed and mature. The first song is a taste of the forthcoming album in a different version, then it followed by a new version of an old '92 song and the third track is a keyboard instrumental version of "Inno a Satana" called "Opus a Satana". But the colest thing is that there are almost 80Mb worth of CD-ROM here in the form of the complete video to "The Loss and Curse of Reverence" (the first song) It very well done with the same sound quality as the normal CD and it lasts for 6:10. It's featured in several versions so you can play it regardless of having a PC or a Mac. Rated

Anthems to the Welkin at Dusk

An absolutely great intro and a fabolous opening song. It's all fast, complexed, brutal and majestetic. The vocals are high and screamy as usual, but there are also plenty of additional normal deep voacls aswell. I don't think that this is as perfect as "In the Nightside Eclipse" was. It's too complexed, just like Immortals "Blizzard Beasts" are. The mixing isn't perfect either, the vocals are to hard to hear in my opinion. Still, this is a very good release, with several superb riffs acompanied by brilliant keyboard work. I suppose that all of you who like this great band before will like this as much as I do. I guess that it might grow into a 5 after a while. Oh yeah, it has a great cover that fits perfectly on the CD-wall

Emperor/Enslaved Split

Emperor/Hordanes Land

This is Emperor's debut and it is a debut full of promises. The music is very fast raw black metal accompanied with synths which gives a new good sound. This is definitely a very good direction and it proved to be that also when the Full length album came (above). The other band on this release is Enslaved. Now Enslaved plays Viking Metal and is a fairly good band from time to time but the songs on this album (3 of them) are just too long so they might get a bit boring. The songs are more evil and primitive then later work and they use some interesting keyboards and even piano on the last track. In total this album is worth the money mostly because of Emperor's great part of it.
