Einherjar
Aurora Borealis EP.
Slower viking metal with some very good grim vocals and nice riffs with
lots of rhythm and feeling. There are some normal and whispering vocals to
and they are my favourites. I don't think that the grim vocals fits this
slow viking metal sound. In any other B.M. they would have been a great
asset, but here it ruins the feeling abit. I always rank the feeling
highest when it's a viking band and this norweigan 4-pice has lots of
great feeling and I think that they can become very big in the future.
This 24 min. EP. was recorded in -93 but it still feels fresh and
innovative even if the production isn't the best.

Dragons of the North
This first fullength album continues where the EP. left off. The music is
much the same slow and rhythmic metal with lots of feeling. This time the
production is much better (perhaps not perfect yet, but an improvement)
and the vocals fits it all much better now, because they have stoped using
the grim stuff and started with more agressive normal vocals and it's
accompanied by plenty of male choirs. The band have expanded to a
five-pice and they have started to use their real names. They have also
added the right amount of keyboards to add extra feeling. All this makes
it better soundwice, but the material isn't as good as on the EP. (It's
still great songs) so I still give it the same grade. I rank Einherjar as
one of the best viking bands out there today so you should ceck them
out.
