(Dimmu Borgir)
For All Tid
I had read a lots of good reviews about this band in my 'zines when I
bought it. I don't think it turned out to be just as good as they'd said
but it's a good album. The sound is a bit bad and that’s perhaps the only
thing to complain about, but they haven't got that extra little touch.
Their music reminds a lot of the older Burzum stuff, so if you liked that
then I think you'll enjoy this one as well.
This band has big potential thought and future releases can be of very
high class if just the sound gets better and a little bit better material
is written (They should be able to do this sense one member comes from
Fimbulwinter and their material is among the best). I don't have anything
more to say right now but they're definitely worth checking
out.

Stormblåst

Something new has been added, a female keyboardist/pianist and a talented
one as well. This gives the music a more original touch and a nicer sound
then before. The material is as good as before even if a few riffs seems a
bit stolen (just listen to Ophthalamia’s "Via Dolorosa" and hear for your
self). Their debut was a great album for a first one and this is a great
album from a band with new experiences. The production is better and
clearer here and with a total playing time of 49 min is it well spent
money as well. All lyrics are in Norwegian and the vocals are as before
both normal and grim ones. I must say that the opening to this album
is some of the best stuff I've ever heard, too bad it doesn't have the
same quality all the way...

Devil's Path MCD
A mysterious intro much like Daemonium's, but more majestetic. Both
the frist song and the title track are great stuff, infact it's the
best the guy's from Norway ever done. OK the intro on Stormblåst beats
almost anything, but this is as good. It sounds like they've been
inspiered by Satyricon's "Nemesis Divina". It's like they have mixed
Stormblåst with "Nemesis..." which has given a great result. It's
about as original as before if not even more so, which might not say
that much, but Dimmu Borgir has constantly developed into the better
so next release will be very interesting. Finally the last two songs
are both covers of Celtic Frost's "Nocturnal Fear", first in Dimmu
Borgirs own version, with is awesome, and then again in a version
closer to the original. The later version is quite unnecessary I would
say. Listen to the original instead.

Enthrone Darkness Triumphant
Wow! This came as a surprise. I had no idea that I would have a pretender
to the throne of my favourite album in Dimmu Borgir! Sure they are good,
but far from as good as several other acts. Well times changes and bands
develops. It's slow, almost doomy sometimes, but mostly midtempo B.M. with
brilliant riffs, lots of perfect keyboards and a production above most
others. It's not all evil and grim, but more atmospheric and very nice to
just listen too. There isn't a single dull moment in this release. This
puts D.B. in the absolute elite in my book. 56:43 is just another
bonus.
