Deicide
Legion
Dark and evil intro with sheeps and demon noise. Then the brutal and fast
music blasts off. Deicide is problably one of the extremest Death bands
ever but as the lyrics is mainly satanic they should perhaps be refered to
as a Black metal band. The sound is quite traditional death metal, but
much more dark and brutal then most others. The vocals reminds much of
Johnny's on Entombed's Clandestine. The songs are only a couple of minutes
long so the whole album is very short (haven't found the exact time). The
material on this album isn't always that good in my opinion, but it's
still a good album as the energy and brutality brings it up abit. There
are several good riffs and even some splendid ones, but still the album
tends to become monotonous in the long rune as it's ahrd to consentrate
enough on it with it's demanding speed and power. One can easily geta
headache if one isn't totally into it. I have heard rumours that the drums
are speeded up on the recording to sound tighter and faster. I'd
aprechiate if someone could verify if this is true or not.
At last it has very good production and a very nice cover artwork.

Once Upon a Cross
Much better material and riffs and more well done then Legion. It's still
as brutal and rough, but it's not as hard to listen to as Legion is.
They still have the same sound and power as before, but it's not as
hysterically intense. I perfer this album and consider it to be one of the
best in the Death Metal scene, at least among the brutal kind. The sad is
that it's still as short, only 27 min or so.
