Carcass

Symphonies of Sickness

This is the bootleg version with most of the ”Reek of Putrefaction” CD as bonus tracks so it might differ a bit from the original. I’m not sure if the production is as bad on the original but this stinks. It’s probably some of the worst shit I’ve heard in the genre. OK some songs are acceptable and the production is OK-ish on the first part, but the bonus tracks are horrible. Production would probably have been better if they just had put a tape recorder in between them and just play. This together with the repulsing original cover of flesh and meat plus the disgusting lyrics makes me want to puke. Some songs have I heard later in a different recording and then they where great, but now it’s very monotonous and it sucks. Another negative thing is the playing time of 77 min! Why can’t it just quit… The album has been re-released with a new softer cover.

Necrotism Descanting the Insalubrious

Aaahh! Finally the music is good and the production much better hen before. It’s alsomuch better preparied so I recommend that you let this album represent Carcass old style. The music is pretty much the same and the lyrics is still repulsing

Tools of the Trade EP.

This is a very good EP. with one song from ”Necrotism...”, two new tracks and a re-recording of their classic ”Pyosified (Still Rotten to the Core)”, which this time is very good. This EP. is almost 17 min long and one of the best if not probably the best gore release of all time.

Heartwork

Wow! Great intensive stuff. Much heavier with a totally new crushing sound. This is great and one of the best albums Earache has released. It can’t really be described as gore anymore which I think is good. This is a better and more original style which fits them well. It’s also very well produced. The only bad thing is songs who are so intense all the time that it actually gets hard to listen to it at once and still be able to hear all the riffs. But put in a shuffle on your multiple CD player together with a few other CD’s and it’s great

Swansong

More rockish and easy listened then ”Heartwork” The musical skills are at a high level after 5 albums and the production is very good. Unfortunately is this Carcass’s last album since the band doesn’t exist anymore. I can’t say much more since I haven’t heard it much but I liked it a lot and will buy it soon. Oh buy the way, the CD contains a CD-room track for your computer at home.

(This is what I give it eventhough I haven’t really heard it enough to give it a fair rating).
