Tears Laid in Earth
This Norwegian 6-pice doesn’t play black metal if anyone thought so. This
is very beautiful and doomy music with female vocals and a very artistic
touch. Sometime a bit to artistic for my taste. It occasionally reminds of
the slower parts of Fleurity, but the guitars are mostly in the same style
as Burzum but with good production. The great vocals are done by Kari
Rueslåtten also known for her great deeds with Storm, and they’re among
the best I’ve heard. The music is very well performed and the production
is awesome. The musical quality is also high with a few very good riffs.
Two of the songs have keyboards done by Kari and they are perhaps a
preview of her upcoming solo project. The capella intro by Kari has lyrics
in Norwegian, but otherwise it’s English all the time. I must say that
this is one of the best albums ever to relax to, it’s so full of
harmonies. The last song on this +66 min. album is over 18 min. and quite
weird in the end. Over all is this a very different and good album. I
haven’t heard their newest one but they have a new singer so I can’t
imagine it’s as good.

Painting on Glass
Very weird intro followed by even weirder music. This is so weird that it
beats Ingmar Bergmans movies. OK that might not be entirely true. It's
very good some times, but on occations it's too deep for me. The vocals
are done by Ann-Mari Edvardsen since Kari left them for her own solo
project. This girl has also a great talent in her voice. Anyway, most of
the music is slow and beautiful with occational metal stuff. then there
are the weirder parts which sometimes reminds of Bjørk (you know, that
psycho from Iceland) What else can I say? It's great to sleep to and to
make people think you're artistic. A friend of mine said it took him a
year before he liked it so I might have to change this review in a year or
so.
